Dining Out, Entertainment, Sports etc.

• Dining Out. There are many cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance along the beach. Most are open from breakfast to dinner. Prices are mainly from modest to medium, with a few extending the range to expensive. 
• Watersports. Swimming, diving, snorkelling, parasailing and all watersports are available from our beach or nearby.
• Sunset Cruises and Island Picnic Cruises. These are available nearby. Please ask at the office.
• Night Life. There are two discos in town, but beach concerts with loud music, dancing, food and drinks as well as sales stalls for all sorts of trinkets, are most popular at places such as Alfred's Ocean Palace and De Buss - popular with the young, the middle aged and the young at heart of any age. Both are a 15 minutes stroll away on the beach (so they won't keep you awake). Margeritaville, less then 5 minutes away, is popular with young adults.
• Tours. A car or bus trip to YS Falls and Bamboo Avenue, the Black River Safari (crocodiles, birds etc.) or Mayfield Falls takes you through wonderful countryside and sugar cane plantations.
• Car Rental. Available in Negril and Montego Bay, but we don't consider this to be good value or necessary unless you are touring the whole island.
• Golf. Negril Hills Golf Club is about 4 miles (6 km.) away.
• Tennis, Gym, Aerobics, Basketball, Squash, Sauna. For a daily membership fee all these are available, along with professional coaching, at Swept Away Sports Complex, ten minutes walk from Secrets.

Tours

From a trip to Booby Cay, a tiny island just offshore to a Crocodile Safari, there is a large choice of tours.

If you rent a car you'll naturally use that for land trips, but it is expensive to keep a car in the car park while you spend most of your time on the beach. Established tour companies, for example Tropical Tours Limited, run one, two or three times a week to eight or nine places. For a couple or a single person, this is probably the most economical and friendliest way to go. You may prefer to hire your own little bus and driver (we recommend Mr. Paul Jerry who has been based here for 10 years or more and works independently. I have such faith in him that I have actually allowed him to drive my car). Then you have more control and can stay as long as you wish or have side trips to other places of interest. If there are four to six persons you will probably also save money.

Mayfield Falls.

One of my favourites. Travel past sugar plantations, through villages and down to the River Mayfield, where you walk up the whirling river, enjoy the falls, have lunch and relax as long as you wish afterwards in the remote wooded valley. US$50.

Black River Crocodile Safari and Y.S. Falls.

Lunch is included. US$65.

Mountain Valley River Rafting and Plantation Tour.

Liqueur tasting and lunch included. US$70.

Grand Ocho Rios Tour, including Dunn's River Falls.

US$55. Lunch optional extra. All day tour. Nice, but a lot of riding.

Belvedere Plantation.

Port Antonio by air.

Ocho Rios by air.

Kingston by road.

One day tour. I wouldn't do it. No thanks!

Island Picnic.

By catamaran to Booby Cay for snorkelling, swimming and sunning. Drinks and barbeque lunch included. US$40. If you want to walk along the beach, or drive to a convenient point, you may then swim to this island and it needn't cost you anything."

Black River Safari, Y.S. Falls, Bamboo Avenue, Lovers' Leap and Treasure Beach.

This is an all day tour by Mr. Jerry which will cost a group of 4 about $63 each, including entrance fees and lunch. Start at 8 a.m. and return when you are ready, for sunset on the beach. Change the itinerary to suit yourselves.

Bamboo Avenue, Appleton Estate (Sugar and Rum), Seaford Town (German settlement in the 1800's) and Rocklands Bird Sanctuary).

A very interesting day out. Discuss this tour with Mr. Jerry or use your rented car.

You don't have to book any of these tours much in advance, which is good because once you are at Secrets you may decide to put off the tours until your next visit (or the one after).
