From SH in a report 28th December 2007

I have stayed at Secrets (located) at Firefly twice this year. $40 a nite. Perfect for me. Shared bathroom facilities right outside the door. The best people and nicest location on the beach. Maxine and Shawn , the bartenders whip up a mean fruit punch and they also cook some great food. Try the pancakes, eggs and Maxine's special, " Toad in a Hole". Super bar and a lot of regulars are always at the bar. Walking distance to the Jungle, Roots and Alfred's, but far enough away that the music never bothers you at nite. Firefly also has rooms for a little more $$ , with all the usual stuff and I have stayed in those one time and was very satisfied , but I like the cabins more.''

2007, from Ed H.
.....cabins they call Secrets. Clean Cozy and very inexpensive, nothing else like them on the beach. They have a lot of fruit trees on the property.....the Jamaican apples will be in season. An outstanding friendly staff. A beautiful garden.

The majority of my stay in Jamaica was at Secrets cabin  in Negril, from the moment we arrived there I have never been met by such a warm welcome. Everyone is friendly and are willing to talk to you, give you help with any questions or queries that you might have. The hotel is located on Norman Manley Boulevard, about five (5) minutes from the town, making it an easy location for shops and leisure.
The rooms are clean and cosy and provide a true Jamaican flavour which is convenient as the beach is only two footsteps away. You can enjoy food down at the water edge and watch the sunset. Additionally, there is music that will get you in the vibe ( if the coldest Red Stripe in the world doesn't).
(Secrets) is very reasonably priced, and with this it makes itself a contender of value here in Negril.

I was absolutely amazed with the quality of Secrets! My two best friends and I decided to go on spring break because it was the last chance we would get to spend a lot of time together. I stumbled upon Secrets and actually knew some people that stayed there. They had nothing but good things to say about it. It was the cheapest place we found, and as college kids, that's important. Before we went, we didn't care where we stayed. However, now that we've been there, we know that it was the only place to stay. Secrets is right in the middle of everything. They have the cheapest beer, the friendliest staff, and the most affordable rates. I actually cried the last day I was there. Maxine was the greatest bartender! I miss the island, I miss the people, and most of all I miss the resort. My girlfriend and I are planning a trip for next year already. One of these years, it will be the honeymoon. I can't wait to get back. Thank you for all of the memories!

From David Higgenbottom, Calgary, January 2006.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Secrets.  The people were great and the service even better.
I made many new friends, and I'm impressed by the warm family-friendly atmosphere. There were a number of families here - all of whom were having a great time.
I will be back!"

From Lynne Graham,
"Hello to all my new friends at the Firefly and "Secrets"... I miss all of you and the special care during my stay.... the staff  is the greatest and thanks for making my first trip to Jamaica such a pleasant experience.. Hi to David, Audrey, Karen, Joan and Joan, Shauna, Velma, Robert, Errol, and Eastin..I miss you all and I will be back next year and I am looking forward to seeing you all next year ! :+) "

From Dexter 20th February 2005

My first visit to Negril was in 1970. Secrets has the flavour of a Jamaica 30 years ago.

From JG, February 2005
A secret place to go which doesn't exist anywhere else.

From Todd, February 15th 2005.
I really enjoyed my stay in Jamaica. It was the most relaxed I think I have ever been. Tell the girls at the bar 'Hi' for me. They did a great job my entire visit. It was nice to wake up to a friendly face every morning"

From M. K February 2005.
I had a great time, everyone was so friendly. I am thinking of a longer stay 2-04-06 to 3-01-06 in same cabin

From Mike,
Secrets (is a ) great place, 30 second walk to the beach. You get a small shack with a bed, desk, lamp and fan. The shared bathroom is close and clean. Their beach is clothing optional. I spent a week there by myself and really loved it.

From  S. Q,
Secrets (I) always have fun there. Very friendly staff.

From Jerry Gone Bananas,
Ahh, my first two stays were at Secrets cabins, you just don't get a more irie flavor than that...OK, minor downside: having to walk to the loo to return the rented Red Stripes in the wee hours, but other than that, it's heaven. My first day ever in Negril. I was walking on air and extremely happy, the courtyard of Firefly was my paradise and the lagoon was my lover.

From BklnGrl, on the Negril Message Board,
Secrets Cabins (Curious) I stayed at Firefly on the same property and thought Secrets cabins were really cute and would definitely consider stay there. I was in the Jacuzzi every night loved it & saw the showers/bathrooms for Secrets and wished I could use them. They were just a few steps away from the cabins and were really clean and sunny. The beach is right there.

I spent a week there. You get a 10 foot square shack with a light, fan, desk and a bunk bed. The beach is about 100 to 150 feet away. The showers (outside) are a few steps away as are the bathrooms. They have a nice Jacuzzi but I thought it was too hot. Their beach is clothing optional. They have a bar on the beach with free coffee in the morning. I loved it. It's bare bones, dirt cheap and staffed
by great people. It was the best week of my life.

From Jerry, on the Negril Message Board,
Seems like I've loved Negril as long as I've loved some kinds of music.  I needed a bona-fide vacation, albeit max cheap.   I reserved a little Secrets cabin at Firefly, and the rest is my own personal history.   There's nothing like Firefly.  Gawd I miss it.  My 4th trip was Jane's first.

From Chuck
"HI......... JUST WRITING TO TELL YOU I HAD I GREAT TIME.........THANKS

HOPE KAREN IS FEELING BETTER................ I WILL BE BACK.....SOON...........PROMISE.

IF YOU SEE PEGGY (KOJAK) GIVE HER A BIG HUG FOR ME.........
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING................CHUCK "

From Jerry in ATL, on the Negril Message Board
"Besides Roots (Bamboo), there's a little (but clean, cozy and comfortable) Secrets cabins at Firefly. Much more private and peaceful than Roots. Contact Karen or Joan, they're great"
From Mike in Atlanta, on the Negril Message Board
(in response to Jane.)
"Jane; I stayed a week at Secrets last March and absolutely loved the place. It's a little on the rustic side, but very clean, safe and cheap, and in a a great beachfront location. And the staff is made up of some of the friendliest people I've ever met. I'd highly recommend it."
From U.R.
"For budget -minded travellers, they have four basic 'no-frills' cabins that share toilet and shower facilities. For anyone looking for dirt-cheap accommodations on the beach, they can't be beat. The grounds surrounding the place are very well-kept and have lots of gorgeous flowers. The location is ideal, with lots of good restaurants within an easy walk. There is no pool but they do have a very nice hot tub for use in the evenings and late into the night."
From Jerry of ATL
"...of course the name Secrets won't be appropriate for long, but that's OK. There are 4 cabins, obviously dating from the opening of the property eons ago... very clean, comfortable, and possibly the most solid structures in Westmoreland. Need to ride out a hurricane? No problem. You go across the courtyard to shower, to the right to the bathrooms, jacuzzi to the left. A few steps down Firefly's beautiful path to the beach.... they're sheltered from the sun by trees which also provide the bird-and-treefrog chorus after an afternoon rain. I kept a soft vinyl cooler in the room to provide cold juice and Stripes. Security on property every night. The property is "down" the beach a ways from the night action - Alfred's, Risky, Roots, DeBuss - but it's a pleasant walk on the beach. Bring a small flashlight and your common sense, you'll be fine. I personally haven't stayed at Roots, but if you're looking for peace & quiet you obviously won't get it there on bashment nights. Up front at the bar Stripes are 2/ 100J and, well, in general, everything about Firefly / Secrets is as welcoming as it could be. Much respect to Joan, Karen, and, although we haven't met, David."

I've stayed there, and my daughter stayed there when she graduated from McGill. We all have loved it, and find it to be the best value in Negril. Clean, good , close facilities (much improved from a few years ago!) and all the amenities
that you need. You're getting a lot of the things that people pay hundreds for, at a REALLY low price, and the best section of beach. Great staff, secure and safe, and quite romantic. It really grows on you.

From Norlaine Thomas

We just wanted to let you know what a fabulous time we had at Secrets. The Secrets cabin we were in was very
cosy - absolutely everything we needed. The whole place is
lovely. Very clean and well-kept. The staff are so helpful
and friendly. One of our favourite memories is of the
morning when the gardener cut open a coconut from the garden
for us and we had fresh coconut milk on the beach for
breakfast.

The flowers in the garden are beautiful. The whole place
was so comfortable. We met many fellow Canadians among the
guests and made some new friends. It was just the best
holiday we could have hoped for!

Dornette did a fabulous job on my hair - I get so many
comments on it! Chalder, you made
everything flow so smoothly from the time we arrived at the
airport in Montego Bay and found Mr. Jerry waiting to bring
us to Firefly, until we left to return home.

We have truly discovered Paradise! We aren't sure how we'll
manage it, but we definitely want to come back - again and
again and again. Thank you!!!!
